Yes you can share a flat, you need to let us know who you’re planning to live with. Provided we have the availability at the time of your booking, there shouldn’t be a problem.
- Are all bills included?
Yes utility bills are included but there is a fair usage policy. 20Mb Wi-Fi is included.
- Can I pay for my booking over the phone?
If you're having problems booking online please contact the accommodation team and we can try and assist you, if needed they’ll take your payment over the phone, securing your reservation.
- Can I have guests?
Guests are welcome to stay with you for a maximum of 3 days, however we would ask that you check with your flat mates please.
- Are the rooms en suite?
No, each flat has a shower room/ toilet and a separate toilet.
- Can I view a room?
Yes, please contact the accommodation manager.
- Can I have a shorter contract?
Flexible contract start dates are available. Contact the accommodation manager for more information.
- Who can be my guarantor?
Your guarantor must be UK based for at least 3 years.

St Margaret's Flats is in a fantastic location only 1km from Durham City Centre but also close to Durham University’s science site and library. This fantastic city has so much to offer in terms of things to see and do. The city is steeped in history and the stunning architecture offers an impressive backdrop to your student days.
Durham Cathedral is considered one of the best in the country, with breathtaking views from the top of the 300 steps, this is well worth a visit. The Cathedral itself is free to visit or you can have a guided tour to fill you in on the extensive history of this incredible building. For any Harry Potter fans, this is well worth the visit as some scenes from the movies were filmed here!
For a fun day out, try Beamish Open Air Museum. This is a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon. They tell the story of life in North East England in the Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian times and stands in 300 acres of beautiful Durham countryside. If you are new to the city this is a must see!
If it’s nightlife you’re after you have chosen the right city! Considering its relatively small size, Durham has a surprisingly lively nightlife with plenty of bars, pubs and clubs to entertain every student. The majority of Durham’s clubs are situated on North Road which is just 8 minutes away; the ideal location for any student.
