About the Accommodation
- Can I pay my booking fee over the phone?
If you're having problems booking online please contact the accommodation team and we can try to assist you, if needed they’ll take your payment over the phone, securing your reservation.
- Do I need to have a guarantor?
You only need to provide a guarantor if you wish to pay your rent in three instalments. You do not need to provide a guarantor if you’re paying the full annual rent in advance.
- Can I choose who I live with?
We are more than happy to accommodate groups as well as individuals. Where you’re not booking in a group, we understand your flat mates will be key to your experience so when you book as an individual, we will ask you a series of questions to help us to match you with the perfect flatmates.
- Can I live with my friends?
Yes, you can share a flat, you need to let us know who you’re planning to live with. Provided we have the availability at the time of your booking, there shouldn’t be a problem. If you're looking to share a studio with a friend or partner you will have to book together. Please contact the site for further information on whether they allow dual occupancy as not all of our sites allow this. Some of our sites only allow dual occupancy in larger rooms.
- Do I have to pay council tax?
Students do not have to pay Council Tax, but you must inform the council that your are a student & apply for exemption as this does not automatically happen. It is the responsibility of every student to apply for exemption, your University/College or accommodation provider cannot do this for you, though we can help you!
- Is there an age limit for booking with CRM Students?
We only accept bookings if you are over 18. This is due to the legally binding tenancy agreement that every tenant is required to sign when living at with CRM Students. We also can only accept people in full time education.
- How much is the booking fee and what happens to it?
There is a £250 booking fee. When your tenancy commences, the booking fee will convert into a refundable damage deposit. All deposits are registered with TDS which is a government accredited Tenancy Deposit Protection Scheme provider. At the end of your tenancy a final inspection of your room will be carried out prior to your move out and if any deductions are required they will be discussed with you at this point. Assuming the room and its belongings are in the same condition as when you moved and you have provided your bank details within our Portal you will get your deposit back within 10 working days. If you cancel your room booking within 14 days of your Accommodation Offer then you will be entitled to a full refund. After 14 days, the booking fee is non-refundable. Canto Court is located in a the heart of the City, close to Shoreditch and the historical Smithfield district. We are surrounded by Clerkenwell and Barbican, both centres of art and musical activities renowned throughout the City of London, ensuring students enjoy an enriching university life.
With a short walk you could reach the major Universities and Colleges in just a few minutes: London College of Fashion, Guildhall School of Music & Drama, and a couple of stops on the tube to University College London, University of London and other Schools and Colleges such as London School of Economics, King's College London, City University, Imperial College London, London Met plus more. In addition, when staying at Canto Court , you won't need to travel far for food, drink or other necessities.
As a central accommodation provider in London, Canto Court lies close to grocery stores, post offices, stationers, restaurants, coffee shops and more. Islington is one of London's most forward thinking and relevant areas when it comes to restaurants, cafes, and nightlife.
If you head down to the Hoxton Square you will find a culturally diverse mix of high end bars and restaurants, and short walk further will lead you to Hoxton's more artisan bars such as Dream bags Jaguar Shoes and Prague bar.
A 5 minute walk past Hoxton Square will eventually lead you to the trendy Brick lane area where you will find galleries, eateries, independent shops and market stalls at the weekends
Students living at Canto Court will find everything they need within a couple of minutes’ walk from the front door, with a large number of shops, supermarkets and banks along Old Street.
Local shops like Co-operative, Tesco Express, Sainsbury’s Local and a larger supermarket Waitrose are all just a couple of minutes from the property. A Post Office, hairdressers, dry cleaners and banks including Lloyds TSB and Barclays are all also less than 10 minutes away.
Health and welfare:
Property team will be happy to advise you on local doctors and dentists. Old street dental clinic, Bath Street Health clinic and a couple of pharmacies are just a couple of minutes’ walk from the property.
Nearby hospitals include Moorfields Eye Hospital five minutes’ walk from the property and St Bartholomew’s Hospital 15 minutes’ walk away.
Bars, pubs and shops
Canto Court is situated on Old Street in the area of St Luke’s, which has a wide range of pubs, restaurants, cafes, coffee shops and boutiques to choose from. Nearby Whitecross Street is home to a lively food market.
Shoreditch is just 10 minute’s journey from the property with everything you need to make the most of student living in London. Shoreditch has a wealth of bars, takeaways, restaurants, and clubs that host some of the world’s top DJs. The vibrant arts and entertainment area of Hoxton is also close by, home to a large number of art galleries, bars, restaurants, nightclubs and a roof top cinema.
Islington is just one stop away on the Northern line, or a 20 minute walk. The area has an impressive choice of entertainment from the stylish pubs and bars of Upper Street, live music venues like O2 Academy Islington, The Garage and Union Chapel, and theatres like Almeida and Sadler’s Well Dance Theatre. Plus, Camden Town is less than 15 minutes journey away – famous for live music and nightlife at iconic venues like The Roundhouse and KOKO.
The famous Brick Lane Market and Spitalfields Market are also a short journey away, where you can find vintage jewellery, boutiques, restaurants, curry houses and market stalls.
The property is ideally located to experience the best nightlife and entertainment in central London, and is just 20 minutes journey to Leicester Square for West End theatres and Soho nightlife and Covent Garden for restaurants, bars, street entertainment, live music and comedy.
London Bridge is less than 20 minutes on the Northern line for the bars and restaurants of Southbank, and world famous London attractions like The London Eye, Big Ben, Tate Modern and Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre.
The Barbican Centre is just 10 minutes’ walk from Canto Court and is the Europe’s largest performing arts centre. The Barbican Centre hosts classical and contemporary music concerts and is the base for The London Symphony Orchestra and the BBC Symphony Orchestra. You can also attend art exhibitions, theatre performances at the Barbican theatre and film screenings, or visit the library and three restaurants within the centre.
The 18th century St. Luke’s church is just down the road from Canto Court and is host to concerts and seminars throughout the year. There are also a number of green spaces and parks in the area including King’s Square Gardens.
Camden Town is just 15 minutes journey from the property for London's most popular market, Camden market, with hundreds of shops and stalls selling everything from fashion to antiques to street food. Camden lock offers fantastic food and views across Regent’s canal. You can also take a boat, walk or cycle along Regent’s canal to Little Venice, Maida Vale.
The Museum Of London – the world's largest urban museum, packed with historic objects and exhibitions telling the story of London's past – is within 10m minutes’ walk of the property.
Sports & Leisure
Finsbury Leisure Centre is just around the corner from Canto Court, located on Central Street. The facilities include gym and leisure centre halls, outdoor hockey and football pitches and badminton courts. The venue is host to Finsbury Badminton Club and the London Fencing Club.
Ironmonger Row Baths leisure facility is also just minutes from Canto Court with a swimming pool, large gym and the historic Turkish Baths. There is also a Fitness First gym just around the corner.
There are cricket facilities located on City Road, just 10 minutes’ from the property and adjacent to CASS Business School and Finsbury Square Garden.
Arsenal Football Club’s world famous Emirates Stadium is just 10 minutes by road – or 15 minutes on the tube – from Canto Court.
