Student Accommodation in Norwich
Norwich is the largest city in East Anglia and is the regional administrative centre of the area. Norwich was the second largest city in England until the industrial revolution, mostly due to its thriving cloth industry. More recently Norwich became the first city in England to be designated as a UNESCO City of Literature. The rich history of Norwich is still present in its many iconic and cultural buildings, including the Norman Castle that stands at the centre of the city, Norwich Anglican Cathedral and Norwich Catholic Cathedral (the second tallest in the United Kingdom). Norwich isn’t only good for sightseeing though, it is said to have a pub for everyday of the year within its borders, hosts concerts and events at Carrow Road football ground and is the only place outside of Oxford Street to have five department stores in a single area.
Norwich is often thought of as being poorly connected with the rest of the UK. However it has direct rail links with London, Cambridge and Manchester and has regular trains that run to the seaside towns of Cromer, Lowestoft and Great Yarmouth. Norwich also has an international airport, from which you can fly domestically, direct to Europe or internationally via Schipol.
It’s been shown that students love Norwich, students from the University of East Anglia (the main HE institution) are the most likely students in the UK to stay in their city of education after graduating.
The two main leading institutions in Norwich are the University of East Anglia and Norwich University of the Arts.
